Faculty of Agro-Industry, CMU, Explores Plastic Pollution Research Collaboration with Kagawa University, Japan
On 9 January 2026, the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Kittisak Jantanasakulwong, Assistant Dean, and Assistant Professor Dr. Pavalee Chompoorat Tridtitanakiat, Assistant Dean, together with the Chiang Mai University's Innovation Management Office, warmly welcomed Professor Dr. Masahide Ishizuka, Ph.D., P.E. (Japan),
a Professor in the Program of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ACE), and his student from Japan during their visit to Chiang Mai University.
The visit aimed to discuss the progress of a research project focusing on tracking the flow pathways of plastic pollution in natural aquatic environments. The discussion served as a platform for exchanging data and perspectives to support preliminary research on plastic pollution flow paths along the Ping River, Mae Kha River, and the Huay Kaew Waterfall area.
In addition, the meeting explored opportunities for integrated academic and research collaboration among Japanese researchers, the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University and the Chiang Mai University's Innovation Management Office (IMO). The discussions sought to establish a clear framework, strategic direction, and systematic approach for long-term collaborative research, with the goal of achieving tangible and sustainable outcomes in the future.
