
CMU Agro-Industry Hosts "Chang Thong Market #4," Showcasing Student Innovation in a Grand Chinese New Year Theme
Chiang Mai – On February 20, 2026, the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the Agro-Industry Student Union, organized "Chang Thong Market 2026" (4th Edition). The event took place at the multi-purpose student activity area in front of Women’s Dormitory Building 2, Chiang Mai University. Associate Professor Dr. Yuthana Phimolsiripol, Dean of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, presided over the opening ceremony , joined by executive members, faculty, staff, alumni, and students, as well as over 1,000 general attendees.
This event is part of a strategic plan to propel the Faculty of Agro-Industry toward creating people and innovations that drive the country's agro-industrial sector to a global level. Chang Thong Market serves as a vital platform for students to realize the value of product development—from production processes to direct-to-consumer sales. It aims to cultivate essential entrepreneurial skills and foster efficient innovators among students.
This year’s event was held under a Chinese New Year theme, bringing vibrant colors and joy throughout the venue. Major highlights that captured significant interest included:
Special Guest Appearance: The event was honored by Chef Deaw from MasterChef Thailand Season 2, who created a special menu using the Faculty's products. The featured dish was "Sai Oua (Low-fat Northern Thai Sausage) and Nam Prik Num Curry Puff".
Innovation Marketplace: Numerous stalls featured innovative food products and creative goods from current students and alumni, offering a wide variety for shoppers.
The atmosphere was filled with energy from two quality bands: Fullit and Sopha Phatthanasin, who performed throughout the night. The venue was beautifully decorated in a unique Chinese New Year style, providing a festive backdrop for all attendees.
Chang Thong Market #4 was a resounding success, fulfilling its objectives as a stage for showcasing student potential and a space for creating happiness for the Chiang Mai University community and the surrounding public.
