Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University Hosts “Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony for Former Deans, Current Dean, and Senior Members” in Celebration of Lanna New Year 2026
On April 23, 2026, the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University organized the Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony for Former Deans, the Current Dean, and Senior Members for the year 2026, on the occasion of the Songkran Festival, or “Lanna New Year (Pee Mai Muang),” at Building 1 and the Cultural Courtyard (Marble Plaza). The event aimed to preserve and promote the rich Lanna cultural heritage, while expressing respect and gratitude to former deans, the current dean, senior faculty members, and staff of the faculty.
The ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Yuthana Phimolsiripol, Ph.D. Dean of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, with the presence of administrators, faculty members, staff, students, and alumni. Key activities included the ceremonial bathing of the Buddha image for auspiciousness, the presentation of Dam Hua offerings, and the traditional water-pouring ritual to seek blessings from senior members, followed by New Year blessings and a group photo session. The atmosphere was warm, respectful, and culturally enriching.
In addition, cultural activities were held at the Cultural Courtyard (Marble Plaza), including demonstrations of traditional Lanna crafts such as Tung Sai Moo (Lanna-style paper cutting) and floral cone arrangements. These activities provided participants with hands-on experiences in local wisdom and cultural practices.
The overall atmosphere of the event was simple yet graceful, reflecting strong bonds and mutual respect among members of the organization. It also served as an opportunity to instill awareness and appreciation of Thai cultural heritage among younger generations.
The organization of the Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony for Former Deans, the Current Dean, and Senior Members represents another significant role of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University in preserving arts and culture alongside sustainable academic and organizational development.
