Learning Through Hands-on Experience: SMEP PRC Food Science Camp 2026 for Grade 5 Students from The Prince Royal’s College
On June 23, 2026, the Faculty of Agro-Industry, hosted activities for 131 Grade 5 primary school students from The Prince Royal’s College, focusing on hands-on learning in food science and technology.
Students participated in the “Fun with Packaging World” station, where they learned the importance of packaging in maintaining food quality and adding value to food products. They also joined the “Pilot Plant” station, where they engaged in practical activities such as producing pumpkin-based snacks using a drum dryer and making puffed rice snacks with various flavors using an extruder, under the guidance of faculty members and experts.
These activities enhanced students’ understanding of basic food processing while developing essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, and broadening their perspectives on food science in everyday life.
